At Rykneld Primary School, we are passionate about ensuring all children become confident and enthusiastic readers. We place reading at the heart of the curriculum and we strive to ensure that all children become successful, fluent readers. We believe this is achievable through a combination of strong, high quality, discrete phonics teaching (Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics Programme) alongside developing fluency, expression and understanding of texts; this promotes a ‘Reading for Pleasure’ culture.
