Welcome to our Year 5 page!
Frightening First World War
Year 5 visited the Staffordshire Regiment Museum. They were lucky enough to walk through a trench system so they could imagine what life might have been like for soldiers in in WWI and also got to try on uniforms and learn more about the weapons used at the time. InIt was a fantastic day. The children also had a theme launch day in school where they found out even more about the first world war and what life was like for those in Britain.
A visit from the Mayor
During British Values week, the children in Year 5 set up their own political parties, created policies and went off on the campaign trail before voting at the polling station. They also were lucky enough to receive a visit from the Mayor of East Staffordshire Cllr Colin Wileman and the Mayoress. The pupils asked lots of fantastic questions and gained a wealth of new knowledge about local governing and the role of democracy in our society.
