Our Reception pupils have made a fantastic start to their time at Rykneld Primary School and had lots of wonderful experiences.
This term the children have enjoyed taking part in Bikeability sessions. They have used balance bikes and have been learning how to push and glide, how to steer and looked at the safety involved with bikes.
The children had a visit from Mark Titterton (Owl Man). They found out all about different owls, where they live and what they eat. We used the story ‘Owl Babies’ and wrote about the different owls.
Build A Bear
The reception children have been to the ‘Build a Bear’ shop in Derby. Each class has chosen a class mascot, they are called (from L to R) Willow (RS), Blackberry (RJ) and Oakley (RGC).
Packington Farm Workshop
The children in Reception had a visit from Jules who works at Packington Farm. She told the story of The Little Red Hen and talked about the process of making bread. We then enjoyed tasting the bread that had been freshly made. The children enjoyed meeting Martha the Red Hen.
Chinese New Year
The children really enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year. They took part in dragon dancing, tried new foods and learnt about traditional celebrations.
Soccerstars Taster Sessions
Reception children have also taken part in taster sessions for the Soccerstars club after school.
